Thursday's Thought of The Day...#27

"As we grow older and realize more clearly the limitations of human happiness, we come to see that the only real and abiding pleasure in life is to give pleasure to other people." -P.G. Wodehouse Previous Thursday's Thoughts!

The Times A Changing...

Image
I have butterflies in my stomach right now. One minute I feel queasy the next it feels so good. I know you guys can tell by now that I’m a “feelly” kind of person, right? I have a good reason for all of these feelings though. Some really, really exciting news….I’ve decided to go back to School!! I know, I know it’s happening all so fast but I did it. It’s been well over 10 years since I’ve been a student. I’m very nervous but looking forward to the new challenge. To top it off D. will be joining me on this journey as well; we both started our first class today, Personal Dimensions of Education. We are taking the same course but we are not in the same class. I just turned in my first assignment today which was to post my introduction to my instructor and classmates. That was the first step. Now all I have to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other until I’ve reached my goal. I talked to a good friend of mine today who just graduated himself. He gave me some good advice

Go Ahead And Open Pandora's Box

Image
Isn’t it nice to meet someone that you instantly connect with? Someone that you have so much in common with that you feel you’ve known them all of your life? It’s truly a blessing when you find someone special like that who embraces you with love and support right from the start. I recently had the pleasure of meeting such a person. We talk on the phone almost every day. We laugh, giggle about silly stuff, it just feels good being a girlie girl with her. She’s been there for me during this time of transition and I’ve really appreciated her support and encouragement. She’s the kind of person you’d want by your side anytime. The special lady that I'm talking about is Donna, aka Queen Pandora!! If you like Gumbo (and even if you don't) she's cooking up a mean pot of some good ‘ole gumbo and has plenty to offer. She’s just begun this journey of blogging and is so excited about it, shouldn’t she be? What better way for a person to express who they are and what they love

Being Exhausted Is An Understatement!

Image
I’ve been trying to find some mental strength to sit and write but the words haven’t come until now. I’m sitting here looking out the window enjoying the cool breeze. Fall is coming, one of my favorite times of the year. This will be the last time I get to enjoy this view. I’m in the process of moving. There are boxes everywhere; loose ends of little things laying around that make it appear that you have some much stuff. Where did I fit it all, Is the question that has been plaguing my mind?? The truck is almost packed, I’m not sure how we are going to fit everything’s that left, but we’ll find a way. The kids are happy! That’s what matters the most. Between D. and me we are exhausted, exhausted, exhausted! If we slow down too long there’s a chance we’d end up falling asleep wherever we are, that includes standing up leaning on one elbow on the kitchen counter….lol, (true story). We are looking forward to getting settled into our new place. OK, that’s it for now. I’m going to get some

Is Too Much Sex Bad For Your Health?

Image
I came across a very intriguing piece written by Yvonne K. Fulbright on the FoxNews website the other day, and just had to share it with you! Some of these "hazards" of sex are pretty amusing, some made me say hmmm, while there were a couple that I could definitely relate to. Do you have any special cures or precautions for hazardous sexual activity? The Hazards of Too Much Sex You can never have too much of a good thing, right? I used to think that when it came to sex. What harm is there in luxuriating in a lot of loving? Then I learned that an overly zealous sexfest can indeed have you walking more than a little funny. Fascinated, I looked into the matter, only to find that too much sex in a short period of time can do a lot more than bench you for a couple of days. It can, in fact, put you out of commission for a while if you’re not smart about your sex play. So how can you avoid injury when caught up in a bout of excessive sexual desire? First, l

Swaddle Your Baby In Swaddle Designs! Giveaway!!

Image
My little Joshy just loves his blanky! It's funny how he knows the difference between his favorite one and the others. He's become so picky but I can't blame him, I blame Swaddle Designs Collection. Their product line was designed with just that in mind, to get you hooked on their products so that neither you nor your little one would want to use anything else. I got the Ultimate Receiving Blanket, Dots Collection of course in blue, it is so soft. I wish I heard about Swaddle Designs when my babies were newborns. It was especially designed by a nurse who understood the proper and appropriate way to swaddle a newborn. It's a necessity to keep your newborn swaddled for so many reasons. Imagine being in an enclosed, warm, and cozy place since conception. You felt safe, secure, and protected. Well, when you come out in to a strange place it's only normal that you would want to (as soon as possible) do whatever you can to have those same feelings again, right?

We're On Our Way to Noodleboro....Again!

Image
A few days ago the kids got a new game. Noodleboro - Pizza Palace Listening Game! It has been a big hit with our little ones from the moment we opened it. It is a very simple and straight-forward game where the idea is to pay attention to details and instructions in order to correctly fill pizza orders. The order takers, (usually the little ones) have to remember the toppings that were ordered on the pizza, then deliver the completed pizza to the order giver (usually a parent or older player) with the correct toppings. One of the things I liked the most about the game was that both order takers work together to move their pieces to the winning space. The players aren't in competition against one another but rather work together to complete the game. I love this idea! I also love how well the game helps them to slow down, pay close attention to detail, remember and follow instructions carefully. (Maybe there's hope for my son after all - what is it about boys?...lol)

Welcome To The Lovely Lady Edition, Lisa C Style!

Miss Washington ~Lovely Lady Edition~ "For me, it's all about confidence. That's why I love my Rosewood lipstick. It's super-smooth. Super-seductive. And it complements my skin perfectly. When I wear it, I can do anything. Which shade makes you feel this sure?" These are the words of the beautiful and talented, Kerry Washington in a L'Oreal ad for colour riche lip stick. Kerry Washington has been the face of L'Oreal Paris for quite some time now and doing a fabulous job gracing the pages of Essence magazine every month. Whenever I receive my magazine I'm so anxious to see what style and colors she will be wearing. She's so versatile. Every time I show D. her picture he would always say, who is she now? I'd laugh and say the same girl I showed you last month, the same girl who acted her bunz off in The Last King of Scotland . Have you seen it? I loved that movie. Only seen it once, once was all I could take but it

Baby Shower Gifts Galore!

Image
My girlfriend just found out not too long ago that she's expecting number two. Yeah!! I'm so excited for her. This means I get to cuddle and hold a newborn baby again and the best part about it is that it's not mine. I actually get to visit and then go home..LOL. One of the best parts about being pregnant is all of the special attention you and your belly gets. Everyone’s always making sure you're alright, comfortable and content. I know because it was this way for me with all five of my pregnancies. D. would give me back rubs, feet rubs, fluff my pillows for me. Ahh, the joys of being with child, it's like no other experience in this world. I say get your fill of the attention while it lasts because when that little bundle of joy comes it's all over and all the attention goes to them. I'm going to be one of her friends in charge of planning her baby shower. I'm all siked out about it because I love planning events. When I was pregnant I wanted to know w

I Got You On My Mind....Now Go Away!

Have you ever felt like you were drowning in your to-do-list? Mine is so long I can't see the end in sight. From checking school work, to creating lesson plans, to cooking, laundry, to writing reviews and offering giveaways to clearing my inbox to staying social in all of my social networks to...oh yeah my new addiction, tweeting. To calling my friends, my parents and extended family to spending time with my hubby and my babies. The "to-do-list" keeps growing and growing and growing and then it starts growling at me. "Hey, what about this and what about that? Huh...huh? Until I find myself wanting to bury my head under my pillow and say forget it! I'm Done! Call on someone else! I should have taken the blue pill! Oh well, I can't seem to find my pillow and I ripped up my to-do-list, in the process of creating a new one. Maybe this one will be more friendly, I don't like being yelled at. I'm in the middle of writing some awesome reviews and giveawa

Homeschooling With Toddlers

Image
As the new school year approaches I'm getting myself ready to tackle another year of Homeschooling. Although we don't "officially" stop Homeschooling during the summer months, we do slow down a bit. A little intimidated even after 9 years behind me, there's always a moment where I ask myself if I'm ready? Is my patience level where it needs to be? Now that there's a fourth one to teach, who will keep the baby company? One of the biggest questions I get from Mother's aspiring to Homeschool their children is how do you teach your older children while entertaining your Toddlers and babies? Do they get in the way? Does that make it even more challenging? I always answer those questions with a big fat YES! And I don't dare make it seem like it's a breeze. Because I don't want to give these Mother's any false expectations about this part of Homeschooling. I've put together a list of different things Moms/Dads can do with their little one

When Was The Last Time You Saw A Perfect Reflection? Giveaway!!

Image
It seems like every time you turn around there's a new product that professes to be the next best thing in keeping your skin looking young and youthful. So I ask, do I have anything to worry about? I mean with me being young and all, do I have to start thinking about what's best for my skin now? How does one choose when there's a quadrillion different products out there to choose from. Where do you start? These are questions that have plagued my mind and I know the minds of others as well. Will it work? How much money, time and energy do I have to spend on finding what's best for me? The answer may or may not be an easy one for you, I don't know. But all I can say is that for me, I take my time. I try a little of this a little of that and hope that by the end of my trial run it's a fit for me. I usually give a product at least 30 days to see if it's going to work for me. Now, I'm not saying I'm going to wait 30 days to try something and by day 5 I

I Love Days Like These...

Image
Yesterday, was my day off. And I enjoyed it throughly! It was one of those days where I didn't do what I was "supposed" to do and did everything I wanted to do..lol. Well....almost. But before my day started yesterday on Wednesday night I decided to end the night curled up in my bed with a chick flick. So I choose, P.S. I love you. Have ya'll seen it? I've been wanting to watch it for the longest time now but haven't had the opportunity. Guess it's one of those "me time" things that I kept pushing back for one reason or another. You know how we do, shame..shame. So, I put the movie in, pressed play and I don't remember when I fell asleep but when I woke up the movie was still playing, D. was up with the little one trying to put him back to sleep for the past hour. That must have been some really good sleep because I didn't hear a thing. I'm not saying that it was the movie's fault because I was really enjoying it. I guess watching
