Infusing Our Thirst During "A Woman's Thirst" - An Instagram Project

Image
If you follow me on Instagram  you may have noticed my recent involvement in #AWomansThirst project. It is a 40 day adventure of picture prompts created by the lovely Hannah Marcotti . Everyday, early in the morning, we are sent our next adventure via email. It's thrilling to receive each one because you never know what kind of adventure the prompt will take you on. That's one of the alluring things about this project, you never know what you'll have to do, where you'll have to go, and how you will have to express yourself through photos. It's a brilliant project, one that definitely keeps your creative juices flowing. Also, to know that I'm not alone, on a hunt to quench my thirst with a group of women doing the same, however that may look and feel, satisfies a deeper longing of connection for me.  We are currently on day #11 so you haven't missed much. If you have an instagram account and are looking for some creative ways to share pictures or maybe y...

A Little Rant About The Librarian Who Challenged Me To Do Better + Pics Galore of My Babies

Image
Everyday I wake up I want my children to see me do a better job than the day before. I want them to look at me and be proud to be my child.  The other day my son said to me, “Mom, I’m proud of the way you handled the lady at the library. I thought you were going to get upset with her like you did the last two times, but you didn’t.” He noticed.  Our children notice things we don’t think they do. They pay more attention than we may realize. And our children are like sponges, soaking up everything we say, and do. When he said that to me I was proud of my choice to respond to the librarian in a different way. I purposefully went in there determined to create a better situation and environment for myself and my children. It’s been an uphill battle concerning our library cards. From being incorrectly charged over a hundred dollars, to suspending my children’s cards because they couldn’t get passed my security gate at home to make a delivery so we got blamed for havin...

~ A basket full of goodies which held a few of my favorite, favorite things. ~ Cards created by two of the baddest stick drawing little people I know. ~ Time reflecting on what I mean to my family.  ~ Knowing that celebrating me is not just a one day affair.  ~ Appreciating that the word Mother is a verb. ~ To some, I'm no longer Mommy, I'm Mom. Not sure how I feel about that but for now, it's fine. ~ Seeing the fruit from planting all those mama seeds. ~ Grateful that they chose me ~ The joy that's in my heart from knowing that they know...they are enough. Her. And, this face. xx Can't wait to wear this Caftan on the beach. Love the color.  Icing sure knows how to top the cake.

A Delicious Pot of Chickpea & Spinach Soup

Image
I enjoy cooking with my children. We're always looking for recipes to try. The other day we felt like cooking together and found a recipe in my Health Master recipe book called, "Chickpea & Spinach Soup". It sounded enticing and good enough for us, so off to the grocery store I went to gather the ingredients. I left everyone home so that I could enjoy the experience by myself. I knew that once I got home I would be spending the rest of the evening with them. This was my way of craving out time alone for myself - something I do often with having so many children. I love going to the grocery store alone. I take my time and feel my way through the aisles. I'll pick up new products that I haven't seen or heard of before, read about it, do a Google search while standing there if I have to, and decide to buy it or not. This is one way I keep our menu from getting boring because my children like trying new foods. I'll usually pick out a bouquet of flowers fo...

Pictures That Remind Me, It's Not About Being A Perfect Parent

Image
It's about doing my absolute best every day of their lives. It's about showing up, being present, being brave and engaging in all aspects of who they are. It's not so much telling them what to do or how to live but living my life fearlessly and bravely in front of and alongside them.  It's about setting examples by doing the work so they can see my struggles and triumphs and know that perfectionism is not the goal but being courageous is . Pictures from one of our field-trip to the park.  ^^^ This was one of his, "Look, Mommy, look at how high I can jump!", moments.  ^^^ I'm infatuated with feet shots so I take them often.  ^^^ Mr. Joshua getting his wink on. ;-) Even though they are six years a part (David 13 & Joshua 7), they are very close. Always playing, teaching, and just being with each other. It's really a privilege to be able to observe and be a part ...
