Lupita Nyong'o Captured My Heart in 12 Years of Slave

Image
I was not prepared for that next 134 minutes of my life. I spent the entire time gripping and flinching in my seat. They say that it is history's most accurate account displayed in a movie of slavery in America. I say, it's one of the most heart-felt, gut wrenching, emotionally moving, engaging, movies I've ever seen so far. To this day I cannot bring myself to watch it again. But as I will soon and this time watch it with my older children. Excellent, excellent, movie. Have you seen 12 Years of Slave as yet ? What was your experience like?  And, oh my goodness, the actors and actresses, particularly Lupita Nyong'o and Chiwetel Ejiofor were simply amazing. The tears I shed for them were endless. Another thing I wasn't prepared for. Congratulations to Lupita Nyong'o for winning the Oscars 2014 Supporting Actress Academy Award and the film winning Best Film of the year. Well deserved.

My Heart Goes Out To Tameka Raymond

Image
As a mom with who has a 12 year old son, my heart aches for Tameka Raymond's loss.  In my own way I'm sending light and love to her and her family.  When I heard the news of Kile being brain dead it was a few minutes after my son asked me to go outside and ride his bike. I couldn't help but feel the fear come over me wanting to call him back inside the house where he would be "safe". He wanted to go out and ride his bike, that's all. He wanted to go out and play and have a wonderful time being free to do so. I wanted to give him permission to enjoy himself - all of this without the fear that something could happen. Isn't that the reality?...Something, anything can happen as our children are just being children, enjoying themselves in play. We as parents always want to know that they will be safe, that nothing will happen to them, don't we?  I couldn't and wouldn't allow my fears to control me in that moment so I left him to ride his bik...

Man of The Hour ~ R.I.P The Over Weight Lover

Image
Heavy D I remember bobbing my head and singing along to the over weight lovers in the house! Heavy D was one of the original rappers I grew up listening to who inspired me and many with his music. My Honey shared this story with me yesterday that was posted on rapper Jay-Z's site . It's a dedication to Heavy D and a really great read I think you would enjoy. Check it out when you can. Here is a video to one of my favorite Heavy D songs. It brings back so many sweet memories of back in the day. Do you guys remember, "Is It Good To You...OOOHHH I Like It!!  ~ Enjoy ~

Do you know what I love about this beautiful soul? Her PASSION! Whatever she does you can see it oozing out of her and watch it as it spills all over the audience. And, I can particularly (even for a moment) feel the jolt of energy that surges through her husband as he watches on. What a turn on!! I'm a fan of Beyonce' drive for excellence and I'm wishing her and Jay-Z the best as they embark on this new journey of parenting. What a musically inclined child this will be. I enjoyed her performance and as usual, her intentional statement at the end, revealing her newly found joy and love brewing in her womb. Enjoy!! Get More: 2011 VMA , Music , Beyoncé

The First Family of Black Hollywood

Image
Will and Jada Smith are by far one of my favorite Hollywood couples. This month they adorn the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine . I love the way Will describes their home and why they chose to design it the way they did. In this issue you can get a peek inside their intimate space that they share with their adorable children. I've wondered about their home and what kind of character it has, what kind of furniture and intimate places it has. They are such a power couple in many aspects and one of those aspects that always gets me is how intimately sensual they are with one another. Don't you love it? I've wondered about secret rooms, and possible love dens, and maybe even a lair...lol. Been watching too much t.v., maybe? And, um, maybe I have a little obsession with them but who cares. I'm hella attracted to them, and people who turn me on, aren't you? Anyway, enjoy!

He Fancy, Huh?

(courtesy of ABC's Nightline) While browsing the internet I came across this clip on ABC's Nightline about Rachel Zoe and her four month old son, Skyler and his lavish wardrobe. Yes, I did say four months old and already he has more shoes than most families put together. While watching the video, all kind of questions rolled through my mind like, is it too much? If I could, would I? What is the point? Of course there must be, right? Without passing any judgement towards Ms Zoe, I really don't get it and I think it's a little over the top. I do understand that she is a fashion stylist and fashion may be very important to her but what's the message here? She also looks very impressed with herself and her sons wardrobe, he seriously must be the best dressed baby around. I have no problem spending money on expensive things, especially for the quality. I will get more expensive shoes because I'm not into bunions and corns and the such. Tailor ma...

Welcome To The Lovely Lady Edition, Lisa C Style!

Miss Washington ~Lovely Lady Edition~ "For me, it's all about confidence. That's why I love my Rosewood lipstick. It's super-smooth. Super-seductive. And it complements my skin perfectly. When I wear it, I can do anything. Which shade makes you feel this sure?" These are the words of the beautiful and talented, Kerry Washington in a L'Oreal ad for colour riche lip stick. Kerry Washington has been the face of L'Oreal Paris for quite some time now and doing a fabulous job gracing the pages of Essence magazine every month. Whenever I receive my magazine I'm so anxious to see what style and colors she will be wearing. She's so versatile. Every time I show D. her picture he would always say, who is she now? I'd laugh and say the same girl I showed you last month, the same girl who acted her bunz off in The Last King of Scotland . Have you seen it? I loved that movie. Only seen it once, once was all I could take but it...
