Gems In Motherhood

Image
I'm done. Mommy time is over for the night. Right? Wrong! Why? Because I hear little footsteps running around upstairs. No, I want to blog. I want to get it off my chest. Now what? "Mommy she won't go to sleep and she just ran into your room." My room where the baby is asleep.....oh NO! Okay, interrupted (because Mommy time is never over) and frustrated I get up to see what's going on. I meet her in the hallway crying. Stop! Please be quiet I don't want the baby to wake up. She cries louder. I pick her up, run into her room, put her in her bed and say "quiet". As I tuck her in and turn to walk away she says "Mommy can you sleep with me". Ugh! I reluctantly sit down on the bed next to her and begin stroking her hair and face. As she quiets down my mind starts racing on what I was writing about, hoping not to forget what I wanted to say. No matter how hard I try to hold onto the words they become all jumbled in my head an

Daddy's Little Girl

Image
As I'm sitting here I'm thinking back on my childhood and what being a "Daddy's Little Girl" meant to me. I can remember these great big arms held out in front of me ready to take me in and protect me. I remember that when I got into those arms it was time to fly. Yes, fly! He would swing me around in the air so high and fast, I can hear my Mom saying "be careful not to drop her". Those were the days. Now it's my little girls turn to experience the joy and love of what being a Daddy's little girl can bring. My husband didn't grow up with his Dad (unfortunate for his Dad) but has some how come to understand the important role of being a Dad. I love to watch him play with his children. To see their little faces lit up with excitement and anticipation of what he's going to do next. Daddy being silly is the best. I love the way he looks at them and the way they look back. I watch and know that his eyes are saying so much because no father can

My Monday Morning Started At 11:00PM...Last Night!

Image
We had to take little j. to the Doctor this morning because last night he didn't sleep good and neither did we. He kept crying and crying and wouldn't stop. We were completely thrown because he had such a good day. Could it be: 1. He's teething and it's bothering him? Yes, but a little baby Orajel and infants Tylenol should have done the trick. It didn't. 2. I ate something that didn't agree with him? Of course we couldn't come up with anything. 3. He was just so tired from everything we did yesterday and it was hard for him to fall asleep? Maybe. 4. He got bit by a bug and we didn't know? We checked all over, no bites. We even checked to see if there was a piece of hair wrapped around his little fingers and toes. None! 5. Because he's teething he could have an ear infection? Yes very possible but he didn't show the usual signs: fever, pulling at his ears (that looked like it was out of the norm for him because it's something he does often

The Glamorous Bra Strap

Image
Why didn't I think of this! I had to face the music after having my beautiful children. I had to accept that my "girls" needed all the help they can get. Gravity has definitely taken over. ha! I also know that I'm not alone in this. We Women know that there are times when we see a beautiful top or dress that's designed with a spaghetti strap, off the shoulder or even that halter top/dress we stop and think to ourselves there is no way I'm going to pull that off. Well have no fear the Glamorous Bra Strap is here. Mrs Tran-Boyd, founder of Glamorous Bra Straps said “Its simple, but it makes women feel sexy and glamorous". She started making the items at home selling them at school fairs. When interest grew, she took the plunge and invested money to approach a wholesaler in China. I have to give it a try because there are some outfits that I have had my eyes on. And it will give me some more options to take pictures in for when D. is ready for another s

Tag, I'm It!! All About Lisa

Image
I've been tagged by Kelly . This is cool! Here is what you do. Go to google.com type in your name plus 8 different words (one at a time) and see what you come up with when you hit search. Use these eight words: needs, is, likes, wants, gets, says, does and eats. Lisa needs....braces! No comment! Lisa is.... the first commercial computer with a GUI, or Graphical User Interface. Well what do you know! Lisa likes... Sex! Yes, yes I must confess. Lisa wants...to be your friend! Awww. Lisa gets...Married! Lisa says....I want to sing you my song Lisa does...remind me of her . And finally, Lisa eats...the snow. All the time when I was younger. We don't get much snow here in the peach state though, but if we did....I would have to handle my business! Now it's your turn: Dariana KK Yemi Yolanda Super-Mommy

My "Day" has begun!..

What a beautiful Saturday morning it is. This is the day before Mother's Day and the celebration has already started for me. My children brought me breakfast in bed. What a treat! Nish makes a killer egg sandwich that's so good. They also brought me a cup of coffee. Yes, I said coffee. Thanks to D. I'm hooked, but it's certainly not something I do everyday. I'm breastfeeding so we don't want little J. to get hooked too..lol! I found this on Mrs.J's spot and had to share it. I absolutely loved the Jackson Five . Enjoy!

National Teachers Day?

Wednesday was National Teachers Day and my kids surprised me with a letter that just moved me. Here's what it said: Dear Mr. and Mrs. C, Thank you for being wonderful teachers for all of these 8 years. Not just teachers for School but teachers about life. We love you very much and thank you for helping us all of the time. You mean so much to us. You are special! Happy National Teachers Day!!! They told us that they were planning this all week. The funny thing about it is neither me nor D. had a clue about the day. It's just one of those things you know exists but don't pay much attention to. And then when you least expect it you're surprised like this. Thanks kids!

I've Been Tagged!!

How cool is this, my first tag. I've been tagged by Dariana to list 5 reasons why I blog. Then I have to tag five other bloggers to do the same. So here it goes: 1. Blogging is a way for me to release my creative juices. When I write I'm in the "zone". It's FUN time. Me, my pen (in this case, my laptop..lol) and my thoughts. I have a demanding life and it can get crazy around here at times. Blogging is my Calgon . 2. It's a way for me to meet people. When I'm not blogging I'm reading other blogs getting to know people who I wouldn't have otherwise met before. It's a great outlet for a me being that I'm a stay at home Mom who doesn't have the time to get out and socialize as much as I would like. I've met some really amazing bloggers as a matter of fact I wrote about one just the other day. 3. It's good practice. I started writing at a very young age. I still have those journals in my private spaces at home. Who knows wh

He's Back!!!!

D. is back in full effect!! He's ready to go, has the mic and says "Adjust To That" . Check him out and drop a comment or two, I'm sure he'll want to hear what you have to say!

The Road Ahead!

Image
The end of another day. Whew.....! I have come to accept that it's impossible (right now) for me to finish everything that I set out to accomplish in one day. It takes a whole lot of patience and strength to raise five healthy kids. Healthy kids is the key word! My children mean so much to me. They are why I am who I am today. Who knows where I'd be today if I weren't their Mother. Seriously. You know, there are days that I am not so grateful for this life. I'm almost embarrassed to say that. But, it is what it is. On those days I lose in every way. I don't feel good about much, and it's very hard to see what's good. Thankfully those days happen much less often now. I am happy that I can say that. A few weeks ago D. & I sat down to watch 'The Secret' . And as a result from that day on my life has changed from what I knew it to be. The road ahead of me is a new one. It's unfamiliar, but good. Take a look and see how your life can be change

Happy Birthday David!!

David turned seven years old today. My son is growing up!! I can remember when he was born, it seemed like just the other day. He was so attached that we thought he would never venture away (smile). He's an awesome big brother and watches out for his sisters just like Daddy does for Mommy. He reminds us of his Daddy so much. I'm so happy that little Joshua came along so that David can be a big brother to a boy, can't wait to see those two together.

Her First Book!

Guess who is writing her first book!!!! Yes it's my oldest daughter Tanisha. She is so talented. The other morning she came to me and said "mommy I've written my first book". Book? "yes, I had this idea and then next thing you know the idea led into a book". She couldn't hardly wait to read it to us. So we waited until D. got home from work because we wanted everyone to be there. After she read it, D. and I looked at each other in astonishment!!! She really has something here. We are going to work on developing it more to see where this can lead. Tanisha is so excited and looking forward to the possibilities, she's already started working on the next one. I'll keep you posted on how it's going!

These days I've been a busy bee making new friends, emailing, setting up contacts, joining communities, and reading about people and their fascinating lives. It's been great! Just recently I met this incredible Mom who is full of passion for whatever it is she is doing. She has incredible drive that would draw you in to follow wherever she leads. She means what she says and says what she means. You can check her out here .
