Coming Clean - Mister Cee and Hip-Hop's Dirty Laundry

You can't live in a world where you are running from who you are.

The hip-hop community has, for years, pretended that it could peacefully co-exist with its deep rooted prejudice and homophobia.  As the success of the culture has allowed it to expand it's reach, it must resolve the conflict this has created - that those within it's reach must be welcomed, accepted and encouraged to be authentic about who they are.  Hip-hop is after all, at its roots, about this very authenticity and freedom.

The emotional conversation between hip-hop icon, DJ Mister Cee, DJ Funk Master Flex, and Hot 107.9 (NY) program manager, Ebro, kicks down the door that has barricaded many in the hip-hop community.  The revealing conversation comes on the heels of a scandalous leaked video and subsequent resignation of Mister Cee from his celebrated 20 year career as a hip-hop pioneer. It is a rare and candid peek through the veil of shame and disgrace behind which hip-hop has hidden it's feelings about "non-conventional" sexual expression.

Beyond the boldness of the subject matter, the conversation also reveals a magnificent expression of friendship, support, and genuine brotherly love among these men - something else the hip-hop community could undoubtedly benefit from.

This is probably one of the most brutally honest and necessary conversations in the hip-hop community.
