Singing For Diapers - Atlanta Diaper Relief
Relief Where It Counts
What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear of Moms and Dads being turned away at the daycare because they don't have enough disposable diapers to leave with their child. These parents are in need of the childcare, but are unable to take advantage of it because they cannot afford to buy disposable diapers. Most daycare centers require a parent to provide a full day's supply of disposable diapers and many families can't afford that.
One woman stepped in and is now making it possible for these unfortunate families to receive the help and the care that their child(ren) need. She saw a need and she filled it and continues to fulfill that need with the drive and passion she has for helping the less fortunate.
Kia Morgan Smith @kiamorgansmith
Kia Morgan Smith is the Founder/Executive Director of Atlanta Diaper Relief - a non-profit organization dedicated to providing diapers to families in need. Her focus is on low-income families who have access to free or subsidized childcare but cannot take advantage of it because they cannot afford diapers. The average cost of diapers ranges anywhere between $50 - $80 a month or higher depending on the amount of children one has. There is no government assistant programs that help families with this so they are left to fend for themselves.
"Relieving Babies From The Bottom Up"
Atlanta Diaper Relief provides exactly that: RELIEF - and this is all some families ever need. One of the ways they have been very successful at getting the word out is through having Diaper Drives.
Wednesday night I attended one of those drives at the #WeSing4diapers Karaoke Tweetup event sponsored by beeverywhere.tv also on Twitter @beEverywhere. The event took place @NancysBuckhead Pizza and featured "The Baby Maker" drink courtesy of @CIROCStarATL. Yummy cupcakes infused with @CIROC provided by @TammePha. A beautiful diaper cake made by @CEOcustomcakes and gorgeous handmade jewelry by Andrea @MOELDESIGNS.

Many successes to Kia.
When I was in college I use to work for a day care and we hooked up with a local Salvation Army who helped provide us with diapers for families that couldn't afford them. It worked out well.
ReplyDeleteDr. Reginia ~ I absolutely love what she is doing and all those little bottoms she's helping :-) I'm honored to know her and looking forward to continuing my support.
ReplyDeleteJenJen ~ Beautiful! See a need, fill a need. We all can do it. No matter how big or small, it makes a difference.
