Fabulous Finds Friday #23 Thank You, Mommy's Club!

Image
Say hello to my newest friend. I carry it with me wherever I go, thanks to Mommy's Club .  Do you use hand sanitizers? I use them all the time, especially on my kids. But little did I know the stuff I was using was alcohol based and was drying out my skin. On top of that it wasn't toxic-free so now I'm "cleaning" my hands with chemicals. Great. I stopped using it but couldn't find another that I liked and when you're on the go with your family these little babies come in handy.  Things I love about Perfect Touch: ~ Easy to carry around ~ Non-toxic (Huge plus) ~ Non-Alcohol ~ Doesn't dry out my skin ~ Has a faint scent that's barely noticeable. (A plus when I want my hands to smell like my lotion or oils I put on). I found Mommy's Club through The Mom Bloggers club. I've been a member of Mom Bloggers club since 2007 and I absolutely heart Jennifer James, the founder.  So, if you use hand sanit...

Fabulous Finds Friday #22 Coconut & Hibiscus MMMMM

Image
So happy I came across this product. I've been searching for a hair product that would leave my locs smelling yummy but wouldn't leave residue. It's been an upward battle since discovering the build up (residue) in our locs caused by products that were too heavy. My daughters have been very unhappy with it. As a result I resorted to using only water and coconut oil to retwist our locs and shampoo with Dr. Bronner's liquid soap. They work really well but they are missing the scents that I / we would like to have. My oldest daughter has been researching all kind of hair care products and came across Shea Moisture. She uses their conditioner, gels, and hair smoothies. She loves it. While we were out shopping a few weeks ago I came across this product. One of the reasons I wanted to try it was because it says anti-frizz. I will try anything, well almost anything to help me control my frizz. While it doesn't help control my frizz, a problem I think I wi...

Fabulous Finds Friday #20 CafeMom

Image
W hile browsing the web searching for some communities to join or rejoin I came across my old profile page from the very first online social networking site I joined. I was stoked! I lit up at the memories that flashed across my mind. I loved that site and the women I connected with intimately. Some really close friendships happened as a result of being there. CafeMom  is the site that got me started on the road to social networks. It was a life saver. During this time I had five young children, my husband was working long hours, and I hardly had any adult interaction. I felt alone on many days. I didn't have connections with the outside world like I wanted which left me feeling desperate for someone to talk to. I needed connection. I craved it. I needed to meet like minded women who understood what I was experiencing and was looking for a way to connect with each other. Staying at home with young children all day long can really impact your life in ways you are not prep...

Fabulous Finds Friday #19 - One Word

Image
I was inspired by some of my favorite bloggers and came up with my word for 2014. Here we go... E ngage - To capture, catch, arrest, grab, snag, draw, attract, gain, win, hold, grip, captivate, engross, absorb, occupy, participate or become involved in . Engage . After giving myself time to feel my way into the word that is going to set the pace for me this year, ENGAGE came rolling forth.  I was ready. I was open. I was prepared for anything.  A few words came up like, good enough, vulnerable, open, receive but they just didn't feel brand new to me. Those are words that have had their way with me for sometime. I've become pretty familiar with them. Don't get me wrong, they are still some powerful words that would do wonders for anyone. But this year I needed more and I wasn't afraid to dig a little deeper for it. I wasn't afraid of not having a word right away either. Patience lead me here. (Found this photo on Pinterest. It's on my board ...

Our beautiful new home!  For weeks we searched and searched and searched to find a home that would be a good fit for our family. We would have the space we desired to have, we would have the privacy D and I desired to have, and we would all fall completely in love with it. I'm so happy to share  with you guys that our search is finally over and we begin our moving process today!! Whoot!!! Whoot!!! Our kids are so excited and we are too! We took them to see it last night and they didn't want to leave, as we expected. But they are troopers and know that packing is in order first, then we move. I don't know about you but moving into a new is like having a baby. Yes, it may sound crazy but that's how it feels to me...#don'tjudgeme! It's brand new, exciting, and feels sooooo good!  We are moving over the course of this weekend and into the beginning of next week so I'm going to be extremely busy with packing, organizing, etc. The good thing about i...

Fabulous Finds Friday #9 The Scent of Citrus

Image
One of my favorite things to do is take long, hot showers. It’s alone time at it’s best and adding one of my favorite scents to create an aromatherapy atmosphere only makes it better. Some of the scents I use are, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, to name a few. But lately I have been indulging myself in a favorite that I absolutely enjoy, citrus. O ne of the wholefoods store that I go to sells their own natural bars of soap and I can go a little over board when I’m buying them. It’s to the point where Hubby asks, “you think you’ve got enough”, LOL. What can I say, I love what I love and enjoy what I enjoy and I aim to please, myself! Eventually though, I’m going to make my own. It’s a project the kids and I have been looking forward to doing. I have a few recipes just waiting for me to make the time to do it. I also buy my soaps from a company called, Melaleuca. They sell a bar of soap called, the gold bar, it is to die for. If you ever want to try something new, start with that...

Fabulous Finds Friday! #7 Antiquing!

Image
Yesterday when Hubby and I were out house hunting we had a little time to kill in between appointments so we went to an antique store I had been wanting to visit for some time. I'm so glad we did! It's a beautiful store filled with many, many old treasures that anyone can bring to life with a little tlc. When I was a little girl I used to love reading Little Goldens. Do you remember those? They are those little  books with the golden trimmings made by Disney. I picked up 15 for $3!! You read that right! They were 5 for a dollar. The gentleman selling them said his wife passed earlier this year and her love for books had accumulated to around 2500 in their home. So he's selling them at really great prices but keeping the majority of her cook books. He didn't do much cooking when she was alive so when she passed he picked up a new hobby in cooking and inviting friends over to enjoy the feast. I thought that was really sweet and a beautiful way to connect with somet...

Fabulous Finds Friday #5, I Got ROTD BABY!!

Image
Whoot Whoot!!! I'm a Yelper for Atlanta and I made ROTD {review of the day}!!! {pic taken at the infamous Planet Hollywood in Orlando, Fl in Downtown Disney!} Do you Yelp? If so add me as a friend so we can keep up with each others reviews, travels and the such. This morning I woke up to find fabulosity sitting in my inbox from my fellow yelpers. Yelp.com is a review site that anyone can join for free and write reviews on restaurants, stores, different venues, etc, etc. I joined back in April when I wanted to broaden my writing and I figured since I’m always out and about sampling new tastes, places, and people (<---- not literally, lol) why not write about it. Check out my reviews here, lisacreviews.yelp.com This is truly a Fabulous Find!!
