Tattoos, Tattoos, & Way To Many Tattoos....

I think this look is rather unflattering to the feminine body. However, it seems to be on the side of accepting what's "in" these days and disregarding the fact that it doesn't make your body more attractive. And what really baffles me is the way that it's influenced through songs such as "Tatted UP". Even our professional athletes have ruined their bodies with such excessive markings. How unfortunate!

  1. I am not against it really, I just don't understand the desire. There is nothing that I want on my body ...

  2. I agree. I personally love tattoos but in moderation. Do people not think of what it will look like when they are 80? I have a small one on my ankle of my hubby's name and it took me about 5 years to finally get used to it and not feel like people thought I was nuts. Tattoos are cool if they are tasteful.

  3. Tatoos fall under one of the worst things people can do to themselves alongside with suicide. The thing that beats me though is that when the civilised man came to uncivilised countries he always told the "heathen" peoples of the land how uncivilised tatoos, earings, being bear breasted etc is. Now that same civilised man says that all these things are ok. I disagree... something cannot be wrong 100 years ago and sudenly become right because we are more liberal in our thinking....

  4. I'm with Dalton on this one in so many ways, and admire the courage it takes to voice an opinion like that.

In our culture, piercings and tatoos are completely ego driven. And in that respect, the whole "i'll do whatever I want to to and with my body because I can" mentality is not a sign of freedom at all. It's a sign of the disdain that this society has for an objective moral standard, and is a testament to our monumental egos. yet another inescapable sign that culture is lapsing once more into primitive ignorance, incapapble of understanding or even articulating questions long since asked and answered.

    my two cents.

  5. I guess I'm off my kilter on this one. Because personally I LOVE tattoos. Now, I agree with you Lisa on the woman and the too many. I don't like to see women with big tattoos going down their arms and things. But, I do have a few that are covered by my everyday clothing to assure I can still appear professional.

  6. I would never equate a tatoo with suicide, but as one who has a few (and pretty ones I might add)I agree with Sheliza, moderation is the key. Lil' Mo and Jackie O? NOT the look. And they are going to look completely ridiculous when they get older.

  7. I have one tattoo myself and have thought about getting another one. I am all for accentuating your body tastefully.
I like lil. Mo, but I can't help to get past all of those damn tattoo's when looking at her. Not a good look!

I always liked them although I don't have any of my own. Would I get those tattoos? No, it's not my style.

There is a lot of history behind tattoos, although I imagine some of the people that get them now aren't aware of its history. I have a few old books about tattoos and piercings. It's very fascinating.

Just because civilized man *thought* tattoos and piercings were uncivilized does not mean they were. Over the years civilized man has done a lot of things they should not have done so we definitely don't know everything.

I'm sure the *heathens* had their prejudices about civilized man also. :-)

I used to have piercings. I got mine before they were a *fad*. I thought about it for over year before I went on and received my piercings.

I had my reasons for doing them which had nothing to do with being ego driven you could not even see mine, but it was interesting to hear people voice their opinions on what they thought people were like that had piercings.

Initially, I have to admit it was annoying since a few of the people making these statements should have known what is was like to label an entire group inaccurately but I got over it quickly.

People do things for a variety of reasons.

  9. Every1 I know says they got 1 and it became addictive. I can't imagine being scraped & scratched and then adding ink into the wound. Isn't that the process? LOL

  10. i have a tat & have been thinking of getting another. i agree...moderation.

and shae...it's not being scraped & scratched THEN adding the ink. it all happens at once lol (but seriously, if u pick the right spot, it doesn't really hurt).
