It's Time For A Vacation!!

Image
For us vacationing is one of the best ways to refresh, regroup and to just simply relax and have a grand 'ole time! We look forward to spending time together as a family away from home and the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life. One of our favorite parts about vacationing is the planning of it all. Talking about where we're going, what we're going to see and how we're going to get there ie: car, plane, bus or train. I don't like to get all stressed out about it so I start early in the year shopping around and keeping my eyes open for that perfect place. Just a few days ago this such place caught my eye, Beaches Resorts , four all-inclusive resorts located in the Caribbean on the Islands of Turks & Caicos and Jamaica . Did somebody say, the Caribbean? Count me in! The last time I went to the Caribbean I was 12. Time for a visit, ya think? Here's a little bit about what you can take advantage of while visiting, unlimited dining from a variety of gourmet...

Why You Shouldn't Mess With the Zohan!

Image
We did it! Even though they told us not to. And now we know why, you don't mess with the Zohan! In Atlanta, we're fortunate to have one of the last great drive-in movie theaters around. And one of the things Lisa and I love to do when we have the opportunity is to take in a movie (or 2) at the drive-in. The drive-in is a perfect spot for us for many reasons. It is one of the few places you can go to after midnight and still find something fun and entertaining to do that doesn't involve heavy drinking and loud music. This is great for us, because even when we have a babysitter staying with the kids we like to put the little ones to bed before we leave. Also the drive-in is one of the few places where we can hang out and get as dressed up or down as we like. Sometimes we'll get all dressed up like we're going out on a first date, and other times we take the trip across town and hang out in our loungewear or PJ's. During the spring and summer months ...

I Am A Housewife, But Who You Calling Desperate?

Image
It's funny how things like hugs and kisses gets your attention. How spending time with your children (and hubby) reminds you of what's important. How we as Moms get so busy that we miss the little things that matter most when it comes to raising our children. For a long time I was absent from my home on so many levels and didn't even realize it. And no, it didn't start with blogging. To be quite honest, I don't know when it started. All I know is that it didn't take long for me to get comfortable with the idea of not being here (mentally). I suffered with "the grass is greener on the other side" syndrome (as we all do at times). The good thing is that I've given myself room for error because I have learned that the choice to be a stay-at-home-mom (housewife/homemaker, whatever title you use) is by no means an easy one and on top of that, add homeschooling. However, I've also learned that it is what you make it, it's enjoyable, rewarding, co...

Love the Skin MD - You're In!

Image
For the past couple of weeks I have been putting to the test a lotion by the name of Skin MD Natural. When I say I've been putting it to the test, I mean I've been putting it to the test. You see, my children were all born with a mild case of eczema (some worse than others) and nothing seemed to ever work. If you are familiar with very dry skin and or eczema then you know how diligent you have to be in maintaining your skin. I heard about Skin MD Natural and was reluctant to try it because I was already using a lotion I found a few years ago that maintained our skins moisture. The only problem was if I ever stopped using it our skin would become dry and irritated so I vowed never to stop using it if I could. So, I decided if I was going to try another lotion I would have to do my due diligence. My first step was to visit and read the website in it's entirety, then read some reviews of what others had to say, looked at some very convincing before and after pictures , and...

Why I Left Robert For Amy

Last night D. and I "tried" to watch a bootleg copy of IronMan (you know we've all done it), let's just say it went south fast. We got tired of seeing people walk across the screen interrupting the movie and the person who was taping it cover the lens every time they thought someone was looking. We agreed to throw in the towel. So, we decided to just chill and listen to the sounds of Amy Winehouse , her music is brilliant! I love it! She handles it well but help her little soul, she isn't handling her life well at all. Wouldn't it be great if she pulls a Robert Downy on us? Here's one of my favorite's by Amy, He can Only Hold Her For So Long~

Thursday's Thought of the Day...#26

~Everyday Greatness~ Is Humble! It has to do with character and contribution as distinguished from secondary greatness, which has to do with notoriety, wealth, fame, prestige or position. Everyday greatness is a way of living, not a one time event. It says more about who a person is than what a person has and is portrayed more by the goodness that radiates from a face than the title on a business card. It speaks more about people's motives than about their talents; more about small and simple deeds than about grandiose accomplishments. Everyday greatness is humble!

Mommy, I Want To Ride A Horse!

Image
A couple of weeks ago, the kids had a blast, they visited a horse park with their great-aunt and now everyone thinks they're ready for lessons. My oldest has always had a love for horses. Don't ask me where she got this from because D. and I have a different take on this, we just didn't grow up around many farms in Brooklyn, ok. The most we saw was the dogs and cats you owned and the many strays that begged you for something to eat. Which is why I think I had so many cats and dogs growing up, 11 cats and 3 dogs to be exact. My father had and still does have a weak spot for animals. What can I say, he's an animal lover at heart! Our kids do have the privilege of seeing horses all the time especially when we are driving. As a matter of fact we pass a couple of farms on our way to the library which is only a 5 minute drive away. Yes, I know we live in the country, a far cry from Brooklyn...LOL! As natural our younger kids have followed in the footsteps of their older siste...
